has anyone taken or needed to take a stool softener? i haven't used the bathroom since the day before my surgery (3/14) and am concerned. though i haven't eaten any solid foods since about 8pm on 3/13, i'm still wondering if it would be necessary? any suggestions?
just entering day 5 and have bouts of misery and feeling somewhat normal. right around the hour and a half mark, i start needing more roxicet--- STAT! i've been taking 1tsp every 1 1/2 hours instead of 2 every 4. its helped somewhat manage the pain but i've also been icing my neck fairly constantly for the past 2 days. it's the only thing that's gotten me through. also, i know they tell you not to, but the past 2 days i've been taking 2 ibuprofen every 8 hours which has helped the ear pain- which literally is a 10 out of 10 on the pain scale. i also took ambien last night to help me sleep which was the most resorative and restful i've had since surgery.
water is getting boring, i've switched to ice cubes and fruit punch. i tried to eat mashed potatoes today (double whipped with milk) and i literally passed out from the pain. solid foods are a dream i'm sure won't be fulfilled for another few days.
a word of warning-- be careful in the shower. make sure you don't over exert yourself and then attempt to shower, i saw stars last night and had to sit down in the tub for fear of passing out.
that's about all my tidbits of wisdom from the trenches of toncillectomy hell. i want to get back to normal and i want to be able to breathe without killing those around me! i hope that this time next week i'll be far past where i am now...
