   Lantus (Diabetes board)

12th May 2006
Just wanted to let you know that I am a type 2 diabetic, on Lantus with oral meds (Actos, Glucophage, and was on Amaryl) and I have not found that all of these are helping my bs. I take 40 units of Lantus at bedtime, but my numbers remain very high in A.M. (200 range). I would suspect they will increase the Lantus but it seems that since I started on injectible insulin, my numbers have gotten worse. Before the Lantus, my morning numbers would be high, but not in the 200 range.
Just wanted to let you know that there are type 2's out there on Lantus and oral meds.
Hope everything works out well for you. I'll pray you continue to improve your health. My Mom was like you, denial about the diabetes even though she was on drugs and insulin couple times a day. She passed away last year from end-stage renal failure and congestive heart failure. It was all due to the diabetes.
Please do me a favor, continue to care for yourself. Don't let that happen to you too. My Mom was only 66 years old and I miss her terribly. It will be one year soon since she's been gone and it hasn't gotten any easier not having her here. Good Luck and God Bless.
