Hi Phyllis,
I have the exact same problem that you have. I take 4mg of amaryl twice per day and 1000 mg of glucophage. 500 in the morning and 500 at evening. And like i said in my other post i work out in the evening. Just the treadmill about 35-45 minutes, and my b/s readings are about 150-190 in the mornings. My doctor told me that if you eat too much fat in your meal that it keeps your b/s running higher, versus eating a meal that is healthy it will go back down to normal within about 4 hours, depending on what you eat. I have tried this and it dosen't work. For example, after i work out and then have my evening snack, if my snack is almost like a small meal my b/s are good in the morning, maybe you can try this. The other night I had a small shrimp cocktail and some tortilla chips with it that was about 9:30 pm, and my fasting was 111 in the morning, i have done this several times and have good fastings. Many people have told me to have a snack that contains both carbs and protein in order to balance, and i have tried that. One night I had a slice of bread with a slice of low fat ham in it, and fasting was 188 in the morning. It's probably a good idea just to try out different types of snacks and see what is going to work for your body. Take care and I hope I have helped you a little bit, don't forget your not alone at this!!!!!!
