I would not be here today if it weren't for xanax. I suffered infant abuse and by the time I was adopted at age 1.5 I was already anxious. My loving family that adopted me watched me try to be super kid..in school, in sports because I couldn't handle the anxiety. Then my first realy panic attack at 13 nearly put me in cardiac arrest (vaso-vagal event).
I have been on xanax most of my life and I get through my day without my pulse reaching 180, sweating immensely, chest pain, pain bhind my eyes can't catch my breath. They then put me on xanax for SEVERE generalized anxiety disorder which is the cross I have carried right through to finally getting my masters degree. now in my mid thirties they want to start screwing with my meds ...at first I went along full steam ahead, hopes so high ....after the 4th different they tried (paxil, prozac,zoloft effexor) SSRI I was a mess....I was bbawling in my docs office thinking I was completely going insane because they said this waqs supposed to work and I was getting worse....eventually I found a psych who said what every doctor should be saying..if you don't have a seretonin deficiency then this med isn't doing squat. He put my life back on track by getting my on the proper dose on alprazolam ...then I moved back to Canada and have gone through hell again with the same shit....as selfish as it is I tried to commit suicide. I have found a doc who will give me a max of 3mg a day. when I was in highschool I was on 6mg and was so until I came back to canada. Now I am supplementing the xanax with low dose paxil ...it seems to help a bit but still getting panic attacks....
