Hi Rhonda
Thank you for responding. My husband takes colchicine for the gout now and is told to stop when the Diarrhea sets in that is about three days. Not fun. Plus he is taking allopurinol to control the gout this drug does interact with the coumadin (it is in the moderate zone with coumadin)His INR last week went up to 4.7 so his doctor told him to take 5 mg coumadin for 6 days and every other day to split the pill. His inr went down to 1.7 scary but his doctor said let your body adjust. This is a nightmare because it is one more thing to worry about he was diag with lung cancer 2 1/2 years ago and that has been delt with surgery and chemo and he is now cancer free.Last march he was having a hard time breathing and was diag with emolisiums in both lungs that is why the coumadin. The Gout he could manage with naproxen but that is a major interaction with coumadin so here we are.I just read last week that prednisone could be used but his doctor wants to stick with what my husband is taking. Yes the gout is very painfull so much so my husband was going to take the naproxen. He will also have to stay on coumadin the rest of his life as his doctor said it is not worth the risk to stop it.
