Is 42 too risky in removing tonsils? (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

5th January 2005
Okay so I may be a little helpful to you. I am quite a bit younger than you but had my tonsils out at the age of 24. I too have severe asthmas and allergies. I take advair, albuterol, singulair and prednisone for my asthma. Then for my Allergies I get 7 shots everyThursday to help control them as well as Allegra D and Allegra 180's. I am 2 weeks post-op today and feel fine for the most part. The only real risks that came with having the Surgery was right after the Surgery when I was in Recovery I felt like I couldn't breathe...however they put me on plenty of Oxygen ( nasal cannula and the mask that goes over the mouth and nose) I was fine after that and actually find that having them out improved my brething. I would consider having it as it really wasn't as bad as I thought and it did help some of my other ailements. Well I wish you all the best with whatever it is you decide to do!
