Well, unlike most things in life, this is an easy one. Chronic sinusitus, allergic rhinitus and other allergies run deep in my family and I have suffered with them for years.

What happens is that your nasal fluids run down the back of your throat (particularly at night when your not awake to blow your nose) and into your lungs where it festers and can cause a low-grade infection, slight fever (99-101) and cause you to cough up light-yellow - to greenish phlem. The fluid is also very irritating to the mucous membranes and can cause a sore throat (and redness). Once these fluids fester in your lungs for awhile and the infection begins, they tend to get sticky and "gum up" the alvioli (breathing pores) in your lungs, thus making it difficult for you to breath or take a "full" breath.

I find that Zyrtec and Allegra work best for my own allergies. Talk to your doctor.
