Genital warts on anus? Treatment question! (HPV - Human Papillomavirus board)

14th June 2008
How far deep can I go with the aldara cream into my anus. The warts are outside and just sort of inside the anal area. I will ask my doc but want to know what some other people do? Do you put the cream there? How far is too far into the anal area? What can happen to me if cream gets a little too far into the anus? I know they are not inside very deep just kind of in a somewhat gray area like a little past the surface of the anus... can I use Aldara cream there?

If I go too deep what can happen to me? Can I put a little bit of cream past the surface of the anus?
(don't worry i'll ask my doc to be totally sure before I do anything. I just want to hear from others who have experience- It helps to hear what others have to say with these weird, awkward, and painful questions, it feels supportive. Did i also say this is embarrassing???!!

No need to be embarrassed :)
Mine were at the bottom of my vagina and one monsterous one (it seriously scared me to death when I first discovered it!) looked like it was going INTO my vagina.. So I put the cream on and around it and just barely going into my vagina.. that skin is so sensative so I do not recommend putting a lot on when you're applying it in that one particular spot,, but just at least a light, light coat at the opening and the inside of the opening..
these things are the wooorrrssttt, but they are easy to get rid of.. I started using cream 3 or 4 weeks ago and now mine are gone (doc said it could take up to 16 weeks so I was glad it only took one quarter of the estimated time!)
The cream will probably start burning after a couple of treatments, remember to call your doctor if it gets too bad.. just try not to touch it other than to apply the cream and wash it off to avoid spreading the medicine all over and irritating the skin around the warts.
Hope this helps.
