Hi there, sorry, I wasn't near a computer all weekend. Well, molluscum contagium is quite itchy, and yes, I have both. The tell tale sign of molluscum is that if you squeeze one of the bumps, it will expell a white or gray colored firm substance....close to what comes out of a blackhead, but lighter in color, and more firm. I did have a couple molluscum bumps that itched sooo bad, I thought I would go crazy. They went away in just a few days after using Aldara cream on them, and have never returned. I hope you two can see a doctor soon, as only a doctor could tell you for sure what your symptoms are. Also, if you end up waiting (which it sounds like you probably will have to) to see a doctor, and you wait longer than 48 hours after the onset of your symptoms, a swab test could result in a false negative. For a swab test to be accurrate, it needs to be performed within 48 hours of the appearance of symptoms. You two should definately get a type specific blood test, in addition to a swab test, if one is done. It would be a good idea for both of you to be tested for all STD's, and you might as well do it now, you know? Some STD's can be carried for years before symptoms appear. Good luck!
