Hi there. I have struggled with adult acne for years. I went on two six month courses of accutane almost ten years ago and while they worked for a little while, my acne alwasy came back and it was cystic. I used to go get cortisone shots every few weeks. I tried Aldactone, which is a heart medicine that's sometimes prescribed for acne,and it made me jumpy and anxious so I had to stop. Finally after a while my skin got better, and I just got the occasional cyst and but still had lots of comodones which I controlled with regular facials and occasional light peels. I don't have every option because I have dark skin.

Recently I had laser hair removal on my face. During the treatments, I started to get more and more closed comodones and milia on my face and it eventually turned into acne and cysts. My doctor said that though it's rare, the hair growing back blocked my follicles and gave me acne again. Of course I've been so upset. I went on a low dose of accutane but it gave me severe allergic reactions and stomach distress after 20 days (not totally sure it was the accutane, but there was nothing else irregular that I'd done). So now I'm left not knowing what to do. Things like differin, retin A, tazorac, etc haven't helped, just make my skin look terrible. When you feel my skin you can feel all the tiny bumps inside.

Also, now I've got some pitted scarring and I'm afraid to use lasers because of my experience with the hair laser and also because my skin hyperpigments SO easily. Can someone please give me advice on anything that's worked for them. Any great doctor's in LA? Also, what can I do about the pitted scarring besides lasers???
