Why is Spiro such a big secret? (Acne board)

8th April 2004
I went to the doctors earlier this week and got Aldactone (spironolactone). I've been to so many doctors about my skin... I would get so depressed when they'd say, 'well, that's about all we can do' and I'd leave with no solution. This time I went in and demanded spiro and they gave it to me. I've taken 4 tablets so far over 2 days and I've had no new pimples and my skin is less oily.
Why is it such a big secret? They obviously know it exists because they do perscribe it. I would never have heard of spiro if I hadn't been reading the posts here. I've had acne for half of my life. It has taken up so much time, effort and money dealing with it, why can't doctors see past Accutane or Retin-A?

I've got my fingers crossed that this is gonna work!!
