Asthma meds relax your LES (Acid Reflux board)

5th March 2007
I did some research to day and came across several studies where they found that asthma meds (albuterol, advair, etc..) relax your bronchial tubes and LES, which in turn, leads to reflux.

(The LES is the lower esophageal sphincter which keeps the food in your stomach.. I believe).

The last time I posted a link, I was banned from the board, so you'll have to do your own research.

Hopefully this will help someone. I for one, have been using advair and albuterol for this stupid cough which won't go away, and here it turns out the meds might very well be causing it!! Because I never had reflux before my aug 06 bout with bronchitis, where the docs really pushed the inhalants on me. ARGH, do you know how much money I've blown on meds and dr visits and copays and x-rays? Well, I guess if you're on this board...you do.
