amlodipine versus nifedipine? (High & Low Blood Pressure board)

22nd May 2006
Amlodipine is Norvasc (sp) by the way. Nifedipine is Adalat.

Hi.....I have been taking Amlodipine (norvasc) for 4 years with mild swelling of the ankles only when I have been on my feet for a long time. I just switched my BP meds to Nefedipine ( adalat ). I only switched because of the price of norvasc $53.00 for me for a month. Adalat so far is not so bad but I have a feeling of lightheadedness that comes on once and a while. I hate the feeling of being lightheaded, even worse when I drive, I once had to pull over and walk around. If I could afford it I would stay on norvasc but $53.00 verses $10.00 for adalat is a big dif. for mild high blood pressure. Just a little information for ya................... :-)
