Could not take metformin. Actos caused severe swelling. Doc put me on Byetta in Feb. 5 mg. Severe nausea for several weeks and began to adjust somewhat. Nausea became less often and not as severe. Lost 10 lbs first month. Doc moved me to 10 mg. Nausea much worse. Began eating more to see if it would help. Horrible. Vomiting. Went back last week and lost another 6 lbs. But, my A1C went from 6.5 to 7.5! My morning blood sugar running 200! I am taking 10 mg of Glucatrol. Doc changed me back 5 mg of Byetta and added another pill. Cannot remember the name but starts with a "J". My blood sugar still running in the 200's. He told me I may have to go to insulin injections - which he said could cause weight gain. Ugh.... I am really beginning to worry. He said my pancreas may be damaged and not putting out insulin. I wish you better luck with the Byetta.
