[QUOTE=writercll;3113511]Thanks for the suggestions, both of you. I have to admit, I've never heard of bittermelon or fenugreek. What are they? And as for the depression, I think that might be part of it. He didn't used to be so reticent, but now he rarely talks to me. That might also be because he's developed a hearing problem from his work (Works on a naval jet base... incredibly loud). I haven't talked to his doctor. He can't even get his doctor to return HIS calls. It infuriates me, but he won't switch. Anyway, I'd be interested to hear more about the bittermelon and fenugreek. Thanks again.
Bittermelon is a gourd that grows in India that has been used for hundreds of years there to lower glucose levels. When my husband's Actos wasn't working I found out about bitter melon and then fenugreek, both herbs in capsule form. If we won't take medication there is no reason to believe he'd take herbs. HE has to care about HIS health first. Your caring isn't enough.
I honestly haven't heard of doctors calling patients in decades. They want the patient to come into the office. If it's a true emergency they may do it.
But just to talk ? No; I doubt that will happen! I really feel for you. Diabetes cannot just be ignored; it has to be treated. But again, only HE can treat his disease. He either thinks it isn't serious, OR he is depressed and doesn't care, OR he wants the attention. But here again, you can't lower glucose levels by having a doctor return calls or by buying a new glucose monitor or by buying a healthclub membership. Your husband has to want to get better or stabilize his numbers and if he won't there is Nothing, Nothing you can do about it. This man needs a wakeup call. Good luck and try to not torture yourself. Take care of You and YOUR future as best you can.
