   lOW SUGAR LEVELS... (Diabetes board)

25th March 2007
Help,

I am struggling with low sugar levels in the 50's it seems to happen mostly in between the late morning and to early for lunch. I am feeling good and then I have the feeling that It is low... Usualy in the 50's here last week and the week before that it happened as well twice.

Iam taking ACTOs 15 mg and gylbution 5mg or something like that I am trying to spell it with out going and looking up the exact spelling.

My morning meals are toast x2 wheat, cereal and a piece of fruit. Unusally things are great except when it crashes so to speak. I always eat the same and the activities are the same as well.

This all started as a result of Back fusion surgery X2 : S1 L4- L5. At the pre op physical my blood sugar was 196. Can some one shed some light on this?

We can't really comment if we don't know what you are taking and when you are taking it. Actos wouldn't make you go hypo. If the other medication is a sulfonylurea (Glyburide?), it could be stimulating your pancreas to produce too much insulin, which is making you go low. It could also be a reactive low to the high-carb breakfast you had.
