Can Anyone Help Me? (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

18th January 2006
I posted earlier under Neuroapathy, but thought it would not be noticed. My cousin has had this illness for over a year and has seen many doctors without any results. She has severe stomach pain, upper and lower abdomen pain, and burning in the esophagus. The stomach does not seem to empty. Feel full and bloated most of the time. Can only eat or drink very small portions at a time. Occasional vomiting but feels nauseas most of the time. Bending over for even a brief time causes nausea and weakness. Needs a cane to walk. Vision is very blurred. Has lost 30 lbs. in last three months. (l48 lbs. to ll8) Spends two to three hours per day in bed. Can't see well enough to read or watch TV.
Her doctors are Primary Care Internal Medicine, Neurologist, Gastroenterologist, Rheumatologist and Vascular doctor. Her current medications consist of:
Prednisone l0 mg. Reduced from l5 mg. (Maximum dosage of prednisone was in May 2005 -- 50 mg.)
Levothroxin 25 mcg. 5 to 7 AM
Diltiaz ER (CD) 120/24 l0:30 P.M.
Toprol 25 mg. l0:30 P.M.
Ambien l0 mg. l0:30 P.M.
Actonel 35 mg. once a week
Tramadol HCL - Acetaminophen PAR as needed for pain
Phenergan 25 mg. as needed for vomiting, Suppository
Indomethacin 50 mg. as needed for headache. Suppository
Restasis .05% EMU 1/2 vial per day 9:30 A.M. and 9:30 PM
Sucralfate 1 mg. ll:30 AM 5 PM
Hydracort AC 25 mg. Rectal Bleeding. As needed.
Metoclopram l0 mg. Sub. for Reglan.
Ciprofloxacn 500 mg.
Hydroco/APAP l0 325 mg.

Is there anyone out there experiencing anything similar to this case? Anyone know what could be wrong with my cousin? She is fading fast without any hope!! Please answer if you recognize anything that could solve this puzzle. Thanks!

Actonel may very well be her problem. Actonel will damage the esophagus and many other things. I had horrible side effects, so bad, I call them Actonel poisoning. I am still battling after 6 months. She may have reached her tolerance for Actonel. The medical reference book doctors use has a long, long list of side effects.

well, i dont know much about actonel but that does sond like a very good answer, and i hope it that rather than this one!

has she been tested for cancer? my grandmother had the same eating/walking/resting/neasia/pain problems, but docters called her "constipated" for over a year, she died of cancer half a year after that.
