Dear Brian (and everyone else),
I have been in the same, exact predicament with the patches as you, Brian. And, you're correct...many pharmacies won't even tell you that they carry any brand of patches! "Scared" is simply the nice way to state how I felt! Fortunately, I located the Sandoz brand after a harrowing, nail-biting day. Due to a problem with a local distributor, my pharmacist has me call one week in advance for my controlled substances (Sandoz patches, Roxane hydromorphone, and generic Actiq). I use a Mom and Pop pharmacy, and my pharmacist actually hugged me when I hadn't been in the pharmacy for a while due to a lengthy hospital visit!
The pharmacist knows my condition, and he's been my pharmacist since 1997. As others have mentioned, the pharmacist is an important part of the team.
Nonetheless, there are many great posts in this thread!
