Advice and Help wanted for a girl who makes hundreds of stones (Kidney Disorders board)

19th December 2007
Hi Michele,

Please, please, don't torture yourself, ok?? If you need this medicine (and I'm pretty darn sure you do) please, take it, ok?? It's prescribed by your doc for a reason. He doesn't want you to suffer, and neither do I, ok??? I know it's hard to take these meds.....but what other choice do you have?? To live in extreme agony???

I take Oxycontin and Actiq (fentanyl). I didn't like the Fentora. It gave me mouth ulcers that would make my mouth bleed every time I brushed my teeth. I see you live in Texas....I do, too. I live about 30 minutes outside of Dallas. Where do you live, may I ask?? I don't take Urocit-k anymore, either. I was involved in the original research of the Urocit when I was 10 years old at the medical school here in Dallas. I was their guinea pig for years!!

I also have the bones of someone in their 70's due to my body dumping calcium out of my bones into my bloodstream. My mother is 66 and has better bones than me and I'm only 36. Have you ever had a bone scan done? It's called a DEXA scan. You should to see how your bones are since you are a pretty efficeint stone former, ya know??

Listen, I'm here anytime you need to talk, ok?? I'm not always on the PC eveyday, but I usually try to log on at least every other day. So, if you post a thread, trust me, I will see it, ok?? ;) So, take your meds like your doc prescribed for you and please don't try to be "strong" and tell yourself you don't need them. You obviously do or your doc would definitely wouldn't have prescribed them to you, understand, missy!! LOL Talk to ya later and it will be alright. You have a friend in me, and many other friends on this board and the pain board.

So, keep posting, ok? You probably will get more responses on the pain board since a lot of the kidney patients only take Vicodin, Lortab, when they are having an acute attack. They usually don't take meds around the clock, like us, ya know?? Bye for now!!
