Scheduled for lithotripsy Monday morning and seriously freaking out! (Kidney Disorders board)

9th December 2007
Please, please, if you are feeling ok, leave it alone!! I'm talking from experience. I've had over 35+ lithotripsies, 40+ ureteroscopies, 30+ cystoscopes, Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy, 7 major open surgeries for stone removal, parathyroid removal (you parathyroids control the calcium in your body) and finally a radical nephrectomy. My left kidney was damaged so much from surgeries and stones, it had to be removed. My only remaining kidney is full of stones, and failing. I'm only 36 but started having stones at age 9. I've had over 400+, that's not a typo.

I live in horrible pain everyday and on 3 different, narcotics. The most potent narcs on the market (Oxycontin, Actiq, and Opium). I'm on more meds than most cancer patients. I just don't want to see anyone else end up like me from unnecessary lithotripsies, ya know?? By all means, though, if you are miserable than do something. Just please, be careful, ok?? The most valuable assest you have is your health. When it's shot, nothing else matters!! Take care and bye for now!
