Here are my comments on spiro....

I used to stress out and obsess about my skin. I was in my late 20's when I got cystic acne. I tried everything except accutane. BCP, Bp, proactive, tea tree oil, all anti-biotics, special diets, you name it, I tried it!! Well over 2 years ago I asked my Dr. to prescribe Spironolactone to me and to my surprise I am 99% clear. I don't even need to wear makeup to leave the house. Before I would not even let my Hubby see me without makeup.

Spiro has been my "miracle"! I am on 100mg a day. No side effects! I don't even think, worry, stress about acne anymore. Maybe once a month I will get a tiny little blemish. Not too mention it is cheap....even if you don't have insurance.

My skin is smooth and blemish free. I just use Dove soap to cleanse, apply purpose oil free moisturizer, take spiro and I am clear! No harsh drying creams!

HELP please!:(
Hi everyone- I just started Spiro two weeks ago(50mg, 2x/day) and have had a huge breakout on my forehead. My cheeks and nose are starting to dry out but my forehead(where normally i had very little pimple activity) is all red and bumpy. My skin is 5x worse than it was before I started Spiro. Has this happened to anyone else? I am in graduate school and have a boyfriend...all I want to do is hide in my house. Did anyone who has posted success stories have an initial breakout like this? :confused: I am getting so worried that I am destroying my skin even more than it already was! I feel hopeless, as I've tried everything (3 treatments of accutane and every topical and antibiotic)but the acne keeps returning...Spiro was my last ditch effort to stop this nightmare.

look into the blue/red light acne therapy. the lights are called omnilux. it helped me a lot. i, like you, had taken accutane. it worked but after 6 years i was a zit face again and tried to take accutane again and found i couldn't tolerate. i tried the lights. you have to keep up with it but it clears up your skin like nothing else could.
