The first bp med I took was Tenormin(beta blocker). It was hell on earth! I had so many side effects. It took 3 months and 3 doctors for one to FINALLY say~you need to get off this stuff. The truth is beta blockers are not for EVERYBODY. I took Accupril after that~it worked well but gave me "the cough". I am now on Diovan and although the side effects are few,it has not lowered my bp to the good range. When they tried increasing it,my pulse went crazzzzyy. It seems like the right med is a quest or journey and I have not reached my destination yet so to speak. I do know this...I will NEVER again take a beta blocker :(
