   Singulair (Asthma board)

14th January 2004
Singulair is an anti-lukotriene medication like accolate. Some asthmatics are found to have levels of lukotrienes in their system (about half). If you're one of those, Singulair will work wonders, I imagine. If you're like me and not, then well...it's just another pill to take.

Zyrtec is an anti-histimine so you have two different types of medication.

Nearly 80% of asthmatics are allergic asthmatics. If you are one of those and can get your allergies under control then your asthma may follow rather quickly. Have you considered immunotherapy? If you're like me, again, you're part of the unlucky 10% who are intrinsic asthmatics. I just breathe funny :D.

Hence my wording of "virtually" and your wording of "rare." I'm sorry that they took you off it as it sounds you were doing so well with it. Did you try accolate?

Debater_gurl, I'm sorry to hear of your side effects to the singulair, though it's curious to me that it helped. Have you tried accolate? It's in the same category in singulair, in that it's a lukotriene modifier. It's a pill you take twice daily. It may be something to talk with your doctor about.
