Older antipsychotics may have that zombifying effect but the newer atypical antipsychotics like Risperdal and Abilify are supposed to be better and you get to keep more of the original personality of the person still. I don't think there is any kind of alternative medicine for schizophrenia specificially but you can try high dose fish oil supplements.
